Asset Management
Three deliverables ready for immediate release: the impact report by asset (renaturalized area, active facilities, Airscan data); regulatory alignment indicators (Taxonomy, SFDR, TNFD); and on-site ESG signage that can be photographed and incorporated into your investor materials. Candriam and AG Insurance have used these elements in their investor communications.
Yes. BetterflyBox offers a framework agreement for multi-site portfolios. A standardized installation protocol allows for deployment across multiple properties with minimal coordination effort. The dashboard centralizes all sites. Interparking and CFE followed this model of phased deployment—starting with a pilot at one site and then expanding to the entire portfolio.
Facility Management
No. The Betterfly Hotel can be installed on a building facade or in an existing green space without a building permit or any structural modifications. Installation takes half a day on-site and is handled entirely by the BetterflyBox teams. The modules do not require an electrical connection, except for the Airscan sensor, which runs on a battery or a low-power power supply.
BetterflyBox coordinates annual maintenance with its scientific partners. The Facility Manager receives a detailed maintenance report. The Betterfly Hotel is covered by a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty. In the event of an incident, BetterflyBox responds promptly with a quote. The Facility’s operational workload is limited to coordinating site access for the annual inspection.
The Betterfly Hotel is FSC-certified, designed for long-term outdoor use, and poses no risk to building occupants. The pollinators that use the cavities are not aggressive (solitary bees, not colonial). A usage agreement can be signed to clarify responsibilities.
The BetterflyBox app automatically generates an impact report for each site, including the installation date, geolocation, active KPIs, and Airscan data. This report can be exported as a PDF or in a format compatible with your reporting tools. The documentation is generated by the platform and validated by scientific partners: simply forward it to your CSR team.
CSR / Sustainability
A donation cannot be tracked on your website and does not generate data. BetterflyBox installs physical infrastructure on your assets, generates time-stamped and traceable metrics, and makes them usable for your reporting. The impact is localized, documented, and verifiable. It is not outsourced beyond your scope.
Monitoring protocols are validated by scientific partners (Biotope, ULB). The data is time-stamped, geolocated, and traceable. It complies with the CSRD, VSME, TNFD, and Taxonomy frameworks. It is this traceability that distinguishes auditable data from a marketing claim.
Biodiversity Solutions for Businesses
There is no one-size-fits-all solution: it all depends on the type of site, the company’s objectives (BREEAM certification, CSRD reporting, ESG commitments), and the local ecological context. An effective biodiversity solution for a company must combine an initial assessment, site-specific infrastructure, ongoing scientific monitoring, and the generation of measurable data. This is precisely what BetterflyBox’s Betterfly Nature Intelligence Program offers.
Measuring biodiversity at a company site relies on surveys conducted by qualified naturalists: surveys of plant species, pollinating insects, birds, and small mammals. These surveys generate indicators (species richness, abundance index, presence of target species) that can be tracked over time to measure changes in biodiversity. BetterflyBox organizes this annual monitoring and structures the results into data that can be used for ESG and CSRD reporting.
Yes, under certain conditions. The BREEAM framework assesses the ecological value of sites in its Land Use & Ecology category. Installing biodiversity infrastructure (insect hotels, birdhouses, and ecological landscaping) and conducting ecological monitoring before and after development can help earn BREEAM points. BetterflyBox supports property owners and developers in this process by providing the information required by BREEAM auditors.
To incorporate biodiversity into ESG reporting, a company must be able to provide measurable and verifiable data: species inventories, trends in ecological indicators, actions taken, and results achieved. BetterflyBox generates all of this data based on on-site monitoring, in a structured format suitable for use in ESG, CSRD (ESRS E4), and TNFD reports.
BetterflyBox is a Belgian-based biodiversity solution operating in Belgium and across Europe. It supports companies, asset managers, and property managers in establishing biodiversity infrastructure and conducting scientific monitoring of their sites, while generating actionable data for BREEAM, CSRD, ESG, and TNFD frameworks.
An ecological assessment is a snapshot at a given point in time of a site’s ecological value: it identifies the species present, the habitats, and the site’s potential. Biodiversity monitoring tracks changes over time: it measures how indicators evolve after actions are implemented (such as infrastructure installation, vegetation restoration, and differentiated management). BetterflyBox offers both: the assessment serves as a starting point, while annual monitoring allows for measuring progress and generating data for reporting.
